Curriculum

Each session introduces important art making skills which build upon each other. WhaTever skills your child needs to make art can be learned while they are making art. The main topics and artists explored are the same for each age group, however feedback and instruction is custom tailored to the individual artist. 

Drawing skills, composition, color theory, line, form, shape, shading and pattern Are taught throughout And serve as the basis for discussions around material use and art creation.

Fine art images centering around a specific artist change weekly. Music from the time period of that specific artist as well as a synopsis of the social and historical context Are added in for the student's cultural knowledge and understanding.

“Parent Child” Class - Tuesdays 5:30pm-7:00pm

Come and experience the Joy of Art together, Parent and Child. Create art with love that will last a lifetime.

“Georgia O’Keefe” Workshop - Wednesdays 4:00-5:15pm

Come and experience the life and work of acclaimed american artist Georgia O’Keefe. In this session, we will study her life and work and look at bringing her stylistic influence into the work we create in class.

“This is Me” - Thursdays or Fridays 4:00pm-5:15pm

Making art is a meditative journey back to your authentic self.


Adult Classes - Wednesdays or Fridays 1:00pm - 3:00pm

LONGER CLASSES

All sessions are $365 per student and include 9 ninety minute classes and include a make up week (all students welcome the make up week).  All classes are held in the second floor art room at the Union Church in Hinsdale. Maximum class size is 12 students. All supplies are included.

Winter 2018/2019 - Our American PAinters

Our American Painters: Freedom of Expression, the Human Experience and the work of O'Keefe, Sargent, Pollack, Cassatt, Hopper, Warhol, Rothko, de Koonig, Remington and Audobon.


Spring 2019 - The Art of the Self-Portrait

The Art of the Self Portrait, from Primitive to our Current Day, A Journey of Self Discovery through the arists of The Caves of Lascaux, Rembrandt, Picasso, Kahlo, da Vinci, African Tribal Masks, Dali, Van Gogh and Close.
